Curator Brigitte Kölle
Dr. Brigitte Kölle, born 1967, studied cultural and museum studies in Hildesheim and New York. As curator and academic director of the art hall Portikus Frankfurt am Main, she organized numerous exhibitions and publications in the field of contemporary art including early solo shows by SteveMcQueen, Wolfgang Tillmans, Marlene Dumas, Andreas Slominski, Ayse Erkmen, Matthew Barney, Boris Mihailov, and many others. From 1999- 2003 she was curator at the Institute of Visual Arts in Milwaukee, where she was responsible for the America debuts of European artists such as Manfred Pernice, Ceal Floyer and David Claerbout. As a freelance curator, Brigitte Kölle has realized exhibitions at numerous international art institutions, including PS1 and the Goethe House in New York, the Frankfurter Kunstverein, Kunsthalle Vienna, and the Venice Biennale. In 2008 she curated the exhibition “Gregor Schneider. Weisse Folter” together with Julian Heynen at K21 in Düsseldorf. Her book “okey dokey Konrad Fischer” was recently published as part of her doctorate on the legendary gallery owner. Brigitte Kölle lives in Hamburg.
