Artstar TV is a Gallery HD original series that follows eight artists ranging in age from 21 to 67 as they vie to impress Jeffrey Deitch, a gallerist known world-wide for his ability to spot up-and-coming talent. The Artstar finalists were selected from an open call that attracted over 400 hopefuls. Preserving America’s Cultural Heritage, Los Angeles, California (US)
Preserving America’s Cultural Heritage is a project developed by Los Angeles–based artist Jeffrey Vallance and students in the curatorial practice program at the California College of the Arts. The project proposes a federal bill that would establish a 1% tax on the sale of all art in the United States to fund a program to benefit individual artists. Annual disbursements from this fund would be paid to artists living in the US who have evidence of an exhibition history.

Very Real Time is an ongoing program of research and contemporary art projects located in South Africa’s two major cities, Cape Town and Johannesburg. The first version of Very Real Time took place in 2003, with a one-month residency in Cape Town, involving seven artists from South Africa and abroad. Described briefly, Very Real Time is an enquiry into the spaces between people in South African cities. The project attempts to take into account the complex historic, social and geographic forces which influence the intimate life of the individual, and to find ways of challenging and overcoming psychological barriers which exist.
